So the RX7 I looked at this weekend has a perfect rust free chassis, and a strong 13b. But it has a very bad hesitation if given more than 40% throttle. The owner thinks it's is the grounds which tend to be a common problem with these, as even though it has a new alternator it is still having trouble charging the battery. I have looked on the forums and it doesn't seem too hard to do, but I have never worked on a electrical system before. Does OPPO think this would be a good idea to purchase?

For how much?
No point buying a project unless it is REALLY cheap because you are just going to wind up spending more money than you expect.

I could get it for around $1300, I have no problem spending money on it though. I have wanted a FC RX7 for a long time now, I just don't want to bite off more than I can chew. I have very limited experience working on cars

I'd be wary of what he is telling you.
I don't see how bad grounding can lead to a hesitation; unless the grounds led to the ECU. The entire ECU could potentially be bad and you might not be able to tell without doing some wiring.
If anything, it is more likely a problem with fuel delivery.

change the spark plugs and see what happens. (Owned one many years ago)

There is grounding to the ecu, and it is a common problem with the FC RX7. Or it could just be a bad ECU but when I drove the car, it pulled strong all the way to redline.

Bad grounds doesn't make much sense to me. If the ignition coil wasn't getting the right voltage, you'd feel it all the time, not just as a hesitation. More likely throttle position sensor or MAF (I don't remember exactly how the air is measured for these cars...), or fuel delivery problem.

I do, actually. My FC was the first car I ever really worked on. Did a total brake system overhaul, and figured out why it suddenly decided to run on one rotor instead of two.

I don't know much about RX-7's gremlins but the convertibles are actually MORE RIGID than the coupes...like if you flip one the a-pillars won't give-rigid. That said, all I see in that FC (especially for that price) is an epic V8-swap candidate...

Since you know what your doing, how hard is it to clean/replace grounds
